This exceptional program runs in conjunction with private and independent EC centres in the small town of Kota Kinabalau in Sabah. The centres vary in size and resources and have been set up to offer pre-school preparation for 2-5 year olds. The local ECE association helps train staff, create resources and develop the industry without any assistance from government or industry, and enjoys the engagement with the Australian universities and academics who assist with professional development and participate in the annual ECE conference. The centres operate across a broad demographic, from those that are attached to schools, to independent centres for indigenous children, plus those with special needs.
